SSM Health St. Francis Hospital is offering a lunch-and-learn training session for the public from noon until 1 p.m. on Friday, June 23, at the Maryville Community Center. The session's topis is how to perform hands-only CPR.
SSM Health St. Francis Hospital Community Resource Nurse Jackie Ross will conduct the training. She said "hands-only" CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of surviving a cardiac episode. Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene.
Ross says she wishes more people would attend the various lunch-and-learn events the hospital provides for the community.
