The fifth annual Sliced Bread Jam Bluegrass Festival will be held beginning today and continuing through tomorrow and into Sunday on the Litton Agri Campus in Chillicothe.
The festival's name is particularly fitting since Chillicothe celebrates itself as the "Home of Sliced Bread," claiming the distinction of being the place where the automatic bread slicer originated. This year's festival features regional bands from the Branson and Springfield areas, as well as award-winning national headliner bands like Volume Five and Flat Lonesome from Nashville, Tenn. Chillicothe Area Arts Council Administrator Mary Lou VanDeventer says this year's Bluegrass festival follows from a long history of festivals in Chillicothe.
Admission gates opened at 8 a.m. today and will open at the same time tomorrow. Camping sites and food are available. For more details, go to www.chillicothearts.com, or call 660-646-1173.
