Annual grant funds to improve road safety in Northwest Missouri are now available for regional transportation safety programs from the Northwest Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety. The coalition is part of a partnership working towards the goal of zero deaths on Missouri roadways. Intermediate Traffic Studies Specialist Bryce Acton says distracted driving and human error contributes to the majority of roadway fatalities.
Organizations eligible to apply for these funds include law enforcement, health departments, community groups, schools and others. A new addition to the program this year is a grant writing mini workshop. Acton says the workshop will help applicants learn how the grant applications are graded and reviewed. To be eligible for the grants, programs must address at least one emphasis area identified in Missouri's Blueprint document. Widespread, long lasting and impactful programs are more likely to receive some of the limited funds.
Completed applications are due by the close of business on Friday, July 14.
