The fiscal year 2018 budget was approved by the Northwest Missouri State Board of Regents during their Friday afternoon meeting. The board approved an Education and General Budget and Auxiliary Services Budget, totaling approximately $117,500,000.
The budget reflects a 6.6 percent decrease in state appropriations and a 2.1 percent tuition increase for undergraduate students. Also included are discipline-specific course fees and increased room and board rates. Northwest Vice-president of Finance Stacy Carrick says despite a decrease in funding from the state the budget still aligns with Northwest's multi-year strategic plan objectives, and adds that this year's budget does not allow for any cost-of-living increases for University employees.
The Northwest Board of Regents also approved a three year memorandum of agreement with Metropolitan Community College to implement a concurrent enrollment program. The board also renewed an agreement between the University and the Northwest Foundation, which oversees and manages private donations in support of Northwest.
