Annual Albany Rhythm & Roots festival tomorrow

The annual Albany Rhythm and Roots Festival is opening its gates at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Albany, Missouri.

This year's festival features Micky and the Motorcars as well as Reckless Kelly. Micky and the Motorcars features younger brothers Micky and Randy Braun. Older brothers Cody and Willy are founders of Reckless Kelly. Micky and the Motorcars have been featured in Rolling Stone and Reckless Kelly are Grammy Award winners.

Years ago, the Braun brothers toured  the nation with father Muzzy Braun. The Rhythm and Roots Festival will host both bands and their father as the entire family takes the stage to perform together once again.

Chairman of the Albany Rhythm and Roots Festival David Smith says Asleep at the Wheel band member Ray Benson was key in bringing the family reunion tour to Albany. The entire family will take the stage beginning at 6 p.m. Micky and the Motorcars will follow at 7:15 p.m. and Reckless Kelly will begin their set at 8:45 p.m.

The festival has also expanded its variety of entertainment this year. The Albany class of 1976 will be in attendance, displaying cars and music of their time.

Those in attendance will also have an opportunity to view the Northwest Missouri State University football and men's basketball teams' national championship trophies and to have their picture taken with the trophies.
