The Missouri Department of Conservation has released preliminary numbers for this spring's firearm turkey harvest. Over 44,000 birds were taken this spring.
That number is slightly lower than last year's harvest. In Northwest Missouri totals were slightly lower than last year, but Holt County Conservation Agent Anthony Maupin said there were other counties that came out strong this year.
With the end of turkey season Maupin says hunters and fishers still have some seasons to look forward to this summer.
