MDC offers free field day in Holt County

The Missouri Department of Conservation is offering a free field day in Holt County next month.

The Loess Hill Timber and Prairie Field Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, near Forest City. MDC Foresters will lead participants on a walk through timber on private land in the morning and showcase benefits of timber stand improvement, timber sales, and obtaining a forest stewardship plan. The afternoon tour will cover the restoration challenges on the Loess Hill prairie. MDC Media Specialist Bill Graham says the Loess Hills are very diverse areas.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the Rex Reynolds farm at the northwest edge of Forest City. Lunch will be provided and participants are asked to register.

To register, or for more information, contact private land conservationist Jim Pierson at 660-442-3173.
