Metzgar retires after 22 years with M.U. Extension

A longtime University of Missouri Extension employee with ties to Nodaway County is retiring. After nearly 37 years of working for the M.U. Extension Karma Metzgar leaves office as northwest regional director in May.

Metzgar began her extension career in 1980 as the regional nutrition specialist for Nodaway County, a position she held until 2002. She says one of her accomplishments during her tenure includes adding a youth staff person to every county in the region. Metzgar adds she loves to write and distributed a weekly column titled "Table Talk" for 22 years.

A reception for Metzgar is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m., April 1 at the Remington Nature Center in St. Joseph.
