Midland Empire Resources for Independent Living has a new chief executive officer.
MERIL is a not-for-profit organization that specializes in providing resources to people with disabilities and those who are aging in northwest Missouri. Rob Honan has been named to the position. Honan previously served as the executive director for the Missouri Governor's Council on Disability. He has also served as a participant, board member and executive director at multiple centers for independent living.
Honan says because of his own disability he brings a different outlook to the organization, especially about the practical aspects of those with disabilities finding ways to get things done. He also said he'll be utilizing valuable skills he's learned throughout his career, including fundraising.
MERIL will continue to offer a variety of services including support from personal care attendants, home health, assistive technology, sign-language interpreting, youth translation, in-home nursing and more.
