Maryville City Councel sets conference center and campground rates and policies

Rental rates and policies for the Mozingo Lake Recreation Park Conference Center are in place following Monday night's Maryville City Council meeting.

Councilmembers approved the proposed prices for the conference center, including different rates for weekdays, weekends, and holidays. City Manager Greg McDanel says his staff thoroughly researched the region to determine base prices and upcharges. The rates are in effect until the council decides to revisit them in the future.

Reservations for the conference center open April 3 for dates beyond January 1, 2018. In addition, the Maryville City Council approved new policies for the Group Camp facility at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park. The camp is located on the northeast corner of the park near MOERA. Assistant City Manager Ryan Heiland says the changes reflect an effort to increase the camp's usage.

Heiland says one revision involves the removal of a bump policy whereby groups of campers no longer have priority over those who already have reservations.

According to Heiland, the camp current occupancy rate is around 16 percent.
