Emergency blood drive at United Methodist Church in Maryville this afternoon

The Community Blood Center has declared an emergency blood shortage. The flu has put a dent in blood supplies, and donations have been low at various blood drives in the area.

The Center is asking the public for help to replenish the blood supply by donating at a community blood drive, which begins at 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church-Maryville. Community Blood Center Donor Specialist Norida Romero says many blood requests have come directly from hospitals.

To schedule an appointment, call 877-468-6844, or go online to www.savealifenow.org. The blood drive begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church, which is located at 102 North Main Street in Maryville.
