The Missouri State Highway Patrol wants people to know that boating and thunderstorms don't mix. Springtime brings ever-changing weather and even on the clearest of days thunderstorms can develop quickly. Before going out on the water boaters should check their local weather stations for storm warnings and other weather alerts.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant and Public Information Education Officer for Troop H, Jake Angle urges boaters to prepare in case a storm develops. Angle stated if you get caught on the water during a thunderstorm you should make sure everyone in the boat is wearing a life jacket. Also, have your passengers sit low and in the center of the boat.
