Northwest Missouri State University's Men's basketball heads to the national championship for the first time in program history. The team advanced after defeating Liberty Memorial 79 - 67 in the NCAA Division II national tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota last night.
At the half of last night's game, Northwest trailed Lincoln Memorial by one. Two minutes into the second half, Northwest was in trouble when Lincoln Memorial built a 40-34 lead, its biggest of the game. Northwest scored the next seven points, but the lead changed eight more times before the end of the game.
Lincoln Memorial played in last year's national championship game. They ended their season at 30 and 6. Northwest is now 34 and 1. They face Fairmont State, 34 and 2, Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.
Beause of contractual agreements between the NCAA and Westwood One, KXCV or Northwest Missouri State University will not be allowed to stream the National Championship game, but we will have the game live on-air with the pregame show starting at 1:30 here on KXCV/KRNW and all along the Bearcat Radio Network.
