Altec Industries plans to add 100 jobs in St. Joseph

A local company plans to bring more than 100 jobs to the area. Altec Industries in St. Joseph has announced plans to expand its facilities.

Vice President of Economic Development for the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce Brad Lau says Altec plans to improve various aspects of the company during the expansion.

Along with the Chamber of Commerce, the company worked with the City of St. Joseph and Buchanan County on a proposal to expand in the community. At a recent City Council meeting a resolution to authorize an increased real property tax abatement and a personal property tax abatement for the first five years of the project was approved. Lau says the project helps secure Altec in the community for a long period of time.

Since 1929 Altec has been a leading equipment and service provider for the electric utility, telecommunication, contractor, lights and signs, and tree care market.
