Feb. 13, 2017ST. JOSEPH, Mo. | By: Dieringer
The Performing Arts Association of St. Joseph, Mo. presents the the St. Joseph Big Band for their stage debut at 2 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 19 in the historic Missouri Theatre. The band was formed in 2015 by Kathleen Holeman, Bob Long and Tim Thomas. Holeman formed the band in honor of Ray Alburn, a local St. Joseph legend who performed in a big band for years until his passing in 2007.
Executive Director of the Performing Arts Association, Beth Sharp, says the concert is an opportunity for people to honor Alburn and experience the longstanding tradition of big band jazz in St. Joseph.
The performance will showcase a combination of music libraries from Alburn as well as other artists. Tickets may be purchased by phone at 816-279-1225, online at saintjosephperforming arts.org or at the Performing Arts Association's office located at 719 Edmond Street in St. Joseph.
