Share the Harvest provides 200,000 pounds of venison to needy Missourians

The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Conservation Federation of Missouri want to thank hunters who participated in this year's Share the Harvest program. 4,280 Missouri deer hunters participated this season and donated just under 200 thousand pounds of venison for Missourians in need of food assistance.

News Services Coordinator with the MDC Joe Jerek says the program is put together by the MDC and CFM and coordinates the efforts of thousands of hunters. Since the program's inception in 1992, Share the Harvest has provided about 3.7 million pounds of donated venison. Jerek explained the program was begun by hunters who wanted to help Missourians who are food insecure.
