The Missouri General Assembly continues to work on the fiscal year 2017 budget. Missouri Governor Eric Greitens' budget proposal calls for drastic cuts to higher education. First District State Representative Allen Andrews, a Republican from Grant City, is the Vice-Chairman of the House Subcommittee for Appropriations for Education and a member of the House Budget Committee. He says he's continuing to review the Governor's plans for higher education.
Andrews says the Missouri House is behind this year in their discussions concerning the budget because they received the governor's proposed budget so late. He adds he hopes to see it wrapped up by mid- to late-March.
