Chillicothe Community Open House to demonstrate ShelterBoxes

A Community Open House will be held to discuss a new worldwide disaster recovery opportunity next Monday in Chillicothe.

The open house will cover information on ShelterBox for clubs or organizations interested in sponsoring a box for deployment anywhere in the world. The Chillicothe Rotary Club and Chillicothe High School's Interact Club have both sponsored boxes. ShelterBox is a non-profit organization that aims to provide shelter for those experiencing disasters. Each box contains a tent for a family to stay in and several essential resources. Former Rotary Club President Robin Westphal says ShelterBox has plenty of resources to sustain a family in a disaster. Westphal also says that ShelterBox has been used all over the globe.

The open house will feature a ShelterBox set up in the Courtroom of the Livingston County Library for people to see what's in one. The open house will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. next Monday at the Livingston County Library in Chillicothe.
