Albany Board of Alderman considers what to do with vacant property

Albany officials have narrowed options to enhance the appeal of a vacant property on the city's square.

At their regular Board of Alderman meeting Tuesday, members deliberated the property, where a near-100-year-old office building collapsed in March 2015. Workers demolished the building in June of that year, leaving behind an open space. City Administrator Derek Brown says the board is entertaining the idea of turning the area into a park.

In other business, members considered streets and street structures to repair this summer. Brown says that list is in the early stages of development.

The Albany Board of Alderman will next meet at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Mar. 7.
