Jan. 24, 2017MARYVILLE, Mo. | By: Morgan
During last night's meeting the Maryville City Council approved the creation of a tourism committee. This action was a follow-up to the Transient Guest Tax Maryville voters approved November 8, 2016.
Sixty thousand dollars of revenue from the guest tax is to be used for tourism efforts throughout the community. The tourism committee will advise the city council regarding those efforts. Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the committee will be comprised of nine members from the community. Applications for the three open positions on the committee will be released later this week.
The city council also approved the appointment of Sherri Reeves to the Maryville Park and Recreation Board, a position made available upon Jeff Anderson's passing. Reeves will complete Anderson's original term which ends June 1 this year.
