Jan. 24, 2017MARYVILLE, Mo. | By: Morgan
The Maryville City Council met last night and approved placing a renewal of the Capital Improvement Sales Tax on the April ballot.
The existing sales tax of one-half of a percent was approved in 2008 for a ten-year period and is now set to sunset September 2018. Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the council discussed the benefits of a twenty-year renewal of the sales tax. The renewal of the Capital Improvement Sales Tax will be placed on the April 4 ballot.
Also approved by the council is the "2017 Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday" that will waive city sales tax during the week of April 19-25.
