Season Wrap-up

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team's season came to a close on Saturday with a 17-14 loss to Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA Division II semifinals in Duluth. It's back to the road for the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team as they travel to Duluth, MN this weekend for an NCAA Division II semifinal round match-up with Minnesota-Duluth. The game kicks off at 5 o'clock and can be heard on KXCV/KRNW beginning at 4 o'clock with Bearcat Gameday. The Bearcats defeated Central Missouri Saturday 37-20 in the quarterfinals at Bearcat Stadium to advance to this week's game. The Northwest Missouri Missouri State Bearcat football team heads to Kingsville, TX this Saturday for an NCAA Division II second round play-off game with Texas A&M-Kingsville. Texas A&M-Kingsville gave the Bearcats their only defeat of the season in the first game of the year. Northwest is coming off a come-from-behind 28-24 win over Missouri Western Saturday in the opening round. vs. Fort Hays State

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team had another exciting finish in their match-up with Washburn Saturday afternoon in Topeka, KS. The Bearcats escaped with a 41-40 victory over the Ichabods. vs. Washburn

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team defeated Emporia State Saturday afternoon at Bearcat Stadium. The win gave the Bearcats their 42nd consecutive regular season victory breaking the old mark held by Northwest Missouri State from 1997-2001. vs. Emporia State

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team won their 41st straight MIAA regular season game Saturday night defeating Missouri Southern 49-21. The win ties the mark set by Northwest from 1997-2001. MIAA Commissioner

MIAA officials on Wednesday announced the hiring of Northwest Missouri State Athletics Director Dr. Bob Boerigter as the new commissioner of the conference. Dr. Boerigter takes over from Jim Johnson, who accepted the position of Athletic Director at Pittsburg State this summer. Dr. Boerigter came to Northwest at Athletics Director in July, 2001. KXCV/KRNW Sports Director John Coffey talked with Dr. Boerigter about accepting his new postion with the MIAA.


Bye Week

The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat football team dropped the opening game of the season to Texas A&M-Kingsville 16-7 Thursday night at Bearcat Stadium. Northwest head football coach Mel Tjeerdsma talked with KXCV/KRNW Sports Director John Coffey about the loss Friday afternoon at Maryville's Hy-Vee in a special installment of the Coaches Show. vs. Texas A&M-Kingsville

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Bearcat football team opens up the season Thursday night when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville in a battle of nationally-ranked teams. Northwest is first in this week's AFCA Division II Top 25 and Texas A&M-Kingsville is 14th. The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team held a controlled scrimmage Saturday morning at Bearcat Field as they continue to work toward their opening game with Texas A&M-Kingsville. After the scrimmage Bearcat Head Coach Mel Tjeerdsma told members of the media he was pleased with the way his team looked during the scrimmage.

Defense Round-up

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team began preparations for the 2010 season last week as players reported to campus on Wednesday with workouts starting on Thursday. John Coffey talked with Bearcat Defensive Coordinator Scott Bostwick about the first few days of practice. Bostwick says he feels good about what he's seen out of his defense.


MIAA Football Media Day

The annual MIAA Football Media Day was held Monday in Kansas City. KXCV/KRNW, the flagship station of the Bearcat Radio Network, broadcast live from the event as John Coffey and Matt Tritten talked with conference coaches and players about the 2010 season.
