Northwest Missouri State men's basketball took control of their homeopener against Truman State in the first half and never looked back in an 87-60 win Friday night.

Trevor Hudgins scored 20 of his career-high 28 points in the first half as the Bearcats (5-0) opened up a 17-point halftime lead.

The lead only grew as the second half began thanks to a big push from Joey Witthus.

Witthus scored the Bearcats' first 12 points of the second half, and assisted Trevor Hudgins on the following five points as Northwest jumped ahead by 21.

The senior from Chanhassen, MN scored 19 of his career-high 26 points in the second half.

Northwest shot 53-percent from the field and posted a season-low five turnovers.
