Northwest Missouri State racked up nearly 600 yards of total offense Saturday on the way to a 63-0 rout of Missouri Southern.

The Bearcats (3-0) scored on the ground, through the air and on special teams against the Lions (0-3), who have now given up 63 points in Maryville in back-to-back years.

Senior wide receiver Shawn Bane spear-headed the charge. Braden Wright hit Bane streaking down the seam for a 75-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. It was the 26th touchdown reception of his career, which ties him for fifth in Northwest history.

Later, Bane took a punt 88 yards for the first punt return touchdown of his career. In all, he picked up 193 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in the win.

Josh Caldwell also found the end zone twice – first on a seven-yard run to open a 7-0 lead, and later from three yards out to extend Northwest's lead to 49-0. Caldwell led the 'Cats with 78 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns.

Wright's fast start to the season continued with 267 on 15-22 passing and two touchdowns. He also gained 13 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Wright did throw his first interception of the season against Southern. His touchdown to interception ratio now sits at 6-1 through three starts.

The Northwest defense stifled Missouri Southern throughout the day allowing just 187 total yards. Dalton James was the Lions leading rusher with just 27 yards.

Jerrell Green picked off his first pass as a member of the Bearcats. Just two passes after Deshon Cowling intercepted Wright, Green took it back for Northwest on an interception of his own at the Bearcat 30 yardline.

Nick Hess, Sam Phillips and Mike Ehlke also came up with one sack apiece in the win. Ehlke now leads the team in sacks with two.

The Bearcats are back on the road next Saturday, September 22 at the University of Central Oklahoma. Bearcat Gameday presented by Impact Interiors on KXCV 90.5/KRNW 88.9 will begin at 5pm with kickoff following at 6pm. You can also listen online here.
