Northwest 61, College of Saint Mary 45

Northwest overcame a slow start offensively to down College of Saint Mary 61-45 Wednesday night, the first win under first-year head coach Austin Meyer.

The Flames held a 5-0 lead for the first four minutes of the game before the Bearcat offense began to roll.

Junior guard Kendey Eaton sank a three-pointer to cut the deficit to two points. A minute later she knocked down another trey to lift Northwest (1-2) to a 6-5 lead that it wouldn't relinquish.

The Mound City native scored eight straight points, capped by a mid-range jump shot with 3:27 left in the first quarter.

The Bearcats led 11-10 at the end of the first and expanded it to a 15-point advantage by halftime.

Northwest's largest lead reached 25 points in the third quarter as eight of the nine Bearcats that saw minutes Wednesday night scored.

Eaton led the charge with 17 points on 7-11 shooting. She's tied for the MIAA lead with 20 points per game, while shooting 53-percent from beyond the arc.

Kaylani Maiava also reached double figures for the second game in a row with 11 points.

Jaelyn Haggard finished the night with 10 points and four assists.

Northwest Missouri State is back on the road this weekend with a non-conference matchup with Maryville University in St. Louis. Bearcat Pregame presented by Impact Interiors begins at 12:40pm, followed by the opening tip-off at 1pm. The game can be heard here
