Playing in a familiar setting against a familiar team, the Northwest men's basketball team improved to 5-0 with a neutral site win on Tuesday night.

The Bearcats met up with Washburn in a rare non-conference meeting as part of the MIAA Men's Basketball Challenge from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

Northwest's last game at Municipal was a 69-61 win over Central Missouri in the MIAA Tournament Championship.
Tuesday offered a similar result.

The Bearcats beat Washburn 86-78 behind solid nights from Justin Pitts, Chris-Ebou Ndow and Joey Witthus.
Pitts, the reigning NABC National Player of the Year, dropped a game-high 22 points and nine assists for the 'Cats. Ndow added 19 points, and Witthus finished with 13 points, two rebounds and two blocked shots.

Northwest has one more tune up before MIAA play begins. The 'Cats will meet Missouri Valley at home on Saturday at 1pm.
