Northwest 84, Pittsburg State 58

Northwest rebounded from its first loss of the season with an 84-58 win over Pittsburg State on Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (13-1, 5-1 MIAA) trailed the Gorillas (9-6, 2-4 MIAA) 35-34 at halftime, but they found another gear in the second half. Despite shooting 2-13 on three-point attempts in the second half, Northwest still outscored Pitt 50-23 to pull away.

Justin Pitts scored 17 of his 23 points in the final 20 minutes, and also added in eight assists and three steals.

Brett Dougherty scored 10 of his 19 points in the second half as well. The senior from Omaha has scored in double figures in each of his last four games.

Joey Witthus finished with 18 points, including four three-point buckets in the win.

Northwest returns home for its next game -- a matchup with Central Missouri Thursday night at 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV-KRNW will begin at 7:10. In the first meeting of the season between the two teams, the 'Cats dominated in a 79-55 win.
