Northwest Missouri State set an MIAA record Saturday afternoon in a 78-58 win over Lindenwood in Maryville.

The win pushes the Bearcats (19-2, 11-2 MIAA) to 48 consecutive home victories dating back to 2015, shattering the previous mark of 47 set by Central Missouri.

Brett Dougherty scored 16 of his team-high 17 points in the first half as Northwest ran out to a 43-18 lead at haltime, including a 15-2 run to close the half.

The 'Cats opened up a 70-36 lead with 7:12 remaining in the game before the starters came off the floor and watched the final minutes from the bench.

As a team, Northwest shot 59.6-percent from the field.

Joey Witthus ended the game with 16 points, and eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for his career in the win.

Justin Pitts added 13 points, and Ryan Hawkins finished with 10 points.

The Bearcats begin a two-game road swing Wednesday with a contest at Emporia State. Pregame on KXCV-KRNW is set for 7:10pm.
