In an NCAA Division 2 top five battle Tuesday evening, Northwest Missouri State University didn't leave any doubt who the better team was.

The Bearcats (11-0), the number one ranked team in the country, dismantled No. 4 Lincoln Memorial University 70-56 in a game played on a neutral court in Owensboro, KY.

The two teams exchanged the lead four times in the first half, and Northwest led by as many as 13 points in the opening 20 minutes. LMU wasn't backing down, and closed the half on a 12-3 run to get back within four at halftime.

As Northwest and Lincoln Memorial returned from the lockerroom for the second half, the Bearcats put the Railsplitters away for good.

The 'Cats went on a 27-4 run to open a 59-32 lead.

Limited to just 56 points, the Railsplitters were held to a new season-low scoring output. Prior to Tuesday's game, LMU averaged 102.2 points per game (3rd best in the nation) and scored 156 on Mars Hill last week.

Northwest remains as the best defensive team in Division 2 allowing just 59.4 points per game.

The Bearcats were led by Chris-Ebou Ndow who posted a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds.

Brett Dougherty added 14 points, while Joey Witthus finished with 12 points.

Justin Pitts scored a season-low 11 points, but he dealt five assists in the win. After Tuesday's game, Pitts is the program's new all-time assists leader with 493 for his career. Earlier in his senior season, Pitts also became the first Bearcat to score 2,000 career points.

Northwest now has 11 days until its next game. The 'Cats host Simpson College on December 30th at 1pm. Pregame on KXCV-KRNW begins at 12:40pm.
