St. Joseph, MO (2013-09-04)
Work on the Whitehead Creek Stormwater Separation Project in St. Joseph continues.
A new 78 inch diameter pipe will be placed under 6th Street this weekend. Starting this Friday and running through 6am Monday morning, any travelers of South Sixth street near Atchison Street in St. Joseph will need to use an alternate route. Crews will work throughout the weekend to complete the installation of the new stormwater bypass pipe. St. Joseph officials say the installation will have community wide benefits for water protection by eliminating the cost of treating dry weather creek water at the treatment plant by 2 million gallons per day and it reduces combined sewer overflows to improve the overall water quality of the Missouri River.
