The Northwest Missouri State volleyball team beat the Missouri Southern Lions, 3-1, on Saturday night at Young Gym.
The win moves the Bearcats to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in MIAA play. The Lions drop to 0-2 in conference play and are 3-6 overall. Northwest kept the Lions in check during the first two set, limiting them to just 14 and 17 points, respectively. After losing a tough fought third set,25-21, Northwest bounced right back to win the final set, 25-15. Sophomore Shelby Duren and junior Abby Graves tied for the team-high with 15 kills. Graves hit .522 for the match with only three errors. Junior Brooke Bartosh added 10 kills. Junior libero Bailey Vance had 17 digs and senior Bridget Hanafin had 14 digs to go along with 43 assists. On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Bearcats head to Washburn for an MIAA contest at 7 p.m. in Topeka, Ks.
