Student Death Charges Filed

NODAWAY COUNTY, MO (2012-09-14)

The Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney Bob Rice has charged 2 men with the murder of a Northwest Missouri State University student.

31-year-old Kevin Dell Mooney and 23-year-old Tony M. Overlin, both of Bethany have been charged with class A felony of murder and class A felony of assault in the first degree of 21-year-old Tomarken Smith. Maryville Public Safety Director Keith Wood says at approximately 1:20 this morning, Smith was physically assaulted by Mooney and Overlin at the intersection of North Market and East 4th Street after an argument inside Molly's Bar.

Smith, from St. Louis, was a senior pre-professional studies major with a minor in coaching.
