Plane Crash Update

AP

CAMERON, MO (2012-09-18)

A pilot who died when his experimental plane crashed in Cameron has been identified as a 52-year-old Lawson man.

Authorities said yesterday that David King was alone in the aircraft when it crashed around 7 p.m. Sunday while taking off from Cameron Municipal Airport. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro says the JDT Mini-MAX was destroyed in the crash. The aircraft is described as a single-engine, open-cockpit plane made from a kit. People living near the small airport described hearing the engine sputter before the plane went down. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
