The Missouri State Highway Patrol is one of several safety advocates commemorating National Child Passenger Safety Week from September 16th to the 22nd.
The goal of the program is to remind all parents and adults of the importance of child safety seats and seat belts. Last year, 12 children were killed and over 1,700 injured in crashes. Director of the Patrol's Education Division Captain Tim Hull says that the week helps to remind drivers of ways to keep children safe and minimize injuries in collisions. Hull says that many child seats are improperly installed because parents aren't fully educated on the subject.www.nhtsa.com.
