Red Oak Grant

Wayman

RED OAK, IA (2011-09-19)

A Red Oak agency is getting federal dollars to help promote the region for tourism.

The Western Iowa Tourism Region office in Red Oak will receive nearly $47,000 as part of the USDA's rural business expansion grants. The agency will use the money for technical assistance and training on tourism in several Western Iowa counties. Department of Agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack says smaller agencies and businesses often have trouble getting credit from commercial banks. He says the grant are aimed at closing that gap.

The grant to the Western Iowa Tourism Region office was one of 14 million dollars in federal loans and grants to rural agencies, towns, and businesses.
