MARYVILLE, MO (2011-09-01)
No one was injured but a stretch of Maryville's Main Street is again shut down after a building collapses this morning.
Effected is the south wall of the Pub tavern, known to thousands of Northwest Alumni and a popular spot in Maryville. About 40 feet of the brick wall is rubble with the roof also collapsed. Main Street between 4th and 5th Street is blocked off until a structural engineer deems it safe for traffic to go by.
The city is investigating the possibility a truck might have backed into the pub about 2 weeks ago and if that might have contributed to this morning's collapse. Several businesses next door could also be effected until safety of the structure is determined. Remodeling of the Pub was set to begin in a few weeks under new ownership.
