CLINTON COUNTY, IA (2011-09-26)
A Clinton county farm worker goes on trial today in what could impact livestock workers across Missouri, and may reach the state supreme court level.
The Missouri Veterinary Medical Board and Attorney General's Office says Brook Gray of Holt violated a 20 year old law that bans neighbors and other non-veterinarians from assisting with specialized procedures on herds owned by others. Dave Roland is with the freedom center, a legal advocacy group for limited government. He says using the law against lay farm workers needs to be examined by the state supreme court.
Spokesman for the Missouri Veterinary Medical Board Travis Ford says the board can't pick and choose which laws to enforce. The trial is set to last through tomorrow.© Copyright, KXCV
