Blunt on Flood Funding

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2011-09-12)

Missouri senator Roy Blunt's amendment to add more money to the agriculture appropriations bill for flood relief is being reviewed in Washington.

Blunt is the ranking Republican on that committee and is suggesting another 5 hundred million dollars be added to the 1 billion dollars being considered to help landowners inside areas under a presidential disaster declaration. That would include property in north Missouri along the flooded Missouri River. Blunt says he wants the extra money because the Corp of Engineers still doesn't know the extent of flood damage until the water recedes. He's also tying flood recovery to the hot topic of the day: Job Creation.

The senate committee has pledged to consider more flood relief funding for dropping flood water reveals more damage.
