RAVENWOOD, MO (2010-09-22) Just in time for the late summer storms, Ravenwood installs a new warning siren.
The town just East of Maryville becomes the 5th of 14 communities scheduled to upgrade their outdoor emergency sirens. Ravenwood's new siren replaces the existing one and comes with voice capability allowing emergency responders to verbally warn residents and give instructions. The town paid about $6,500 of the nearly $20,000 upgrade. It's part of a $300,000 federal grant package gained by the Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments. By the end of the year other communities are expected to have similar systems installed, including Albany, Burlington Junction, Denver, Forest City, Guilford, Hopkins, King City, Maryville, Mound City, Pickering, Sheridan, Skidmore, and Tarkio.
