Not only is it Patriot's day, but it's the 150th anniversary of hometown hero General John J. Pershing. This year's Pershing days festival in Laclede will feature a parade starting at 10:30 Saturday morning, followed by tours of Pershing's boyhood home and the rural school house he taught in before heading to West point. The main program will be at 3 featuring governor Nixon, the Lt. General from Ft. Leavenworth, and the 399th Army Band from Ft. Leonardwood. Pershing boyhood home director Denzil Heaney says they also expect international visitors. Observances will be at the Pershing Park Memorial at Laclede, located about 20 miles East of Chillicothe. Directions and the schedule is at the website, "pershingmuseum.com"
