GRUNDY COUNTY, MO (2010-09-29) Missouri governor Jay Nixon declares a state of emergency for a flood damaged highway in Grundy County.
Officials have closed the bridge on Highway "A" over Weldon Fork of the Thompson River that is between Tindall and Brimson. Last Monday and Tuesday's heavy rains caused the Thompson to flood so bad, one of the piers gave way. The governor's office says the temporary loss of Highway "A" is damaging to not just local travel, but moving crops this time of year. The emergency declaration makes it possible to apply for federal money to get the bridge repaired as soon as the funding comes through.
