MARYVILLE, MO (2010-09-16) The Mound City board of aldermen moves forward on the process to apply for community development block grants.
That's money that can be used for a variety of infrastructure and community improvement projects. Mound City is working with the Northwest Missouri regional council of governments to pursue the grants, but a variety of guidelines have to be met. One of those is to have at least 51 percent of residents in the low to moderate income classification. The board is moving forward with a survey of residents to find that information. However, at least 80 percent of those surveys must be returned before the grants can be applied for. The Mound City board also awarded a nearly $2,000 contract to Nauman Construction for electrical work on the city's new warning sirens. And the fall cleanup day has been suggested for Mound City that date is Sunday, October 24th. City officials are checking to confirm that date with the disposal company.
