MARYVILLE, MO (2010-09-02) The Missouri supreme court today takes up the case of a citizen suing the city of Maryville.

Kate Goerlitz lives next to a firearm range owned by the city. She claimed in a 2007 lawsuit the range was dangerous in that stary bullets are passing over her property and violates state law. The next year, lawmakers revised the law, so now the supreme court of the state is hearing arguments based on the new version of the state law and the fact Goerlitz claims the city does not enjoy sovereign immunity from being sued. The city of Maryville maintains shutting down a government firearm range isn't covered in state law. It could be several weeks before the state supreme court issues its decision in the case.
