MARYVILLE, MO (2010-09-07) Animal lovers in the Maryville area now have a chance to help a cause and get healthier too.

The New Nodaway Humane Society's animal shelter has launched a program called "Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound". Organizer Casey Fraites says with 70 dogs at the shelter, there's no shortage of those who would like to break free once in a while. She says walker volunteers will get benefits too. The walk a hound lose a pound program starts tomorrow night and runs through the end of October. For times and location you can contact the animal shelter in Maryville.
