ST. JOSEPH, MO (2010-09-29) The hobby of geocaching is catching on in Northwest Missouri and a program tomorrow in St. Joseph will explain it all.
Practitioners use GPS units and hints off of websites to find small treasures others have hidden in containers around Northwest Missouri along with log books and a small prize here and there. Maryville has some hidden spots along with about a dozen in Savannah and hundreds in the St. Joseph and Kansas City areas. Tomorrow night geocacher Vern Townsend of Savannah will be showing the public how to use GPS and help the audience find two hidden geocaches within walking distance of the Rolling Hills Library in Savannah. The program starts at the library tomorrow night at 6:30.
