Fall Forage

Wayman

HOLT COUNTY, MO (2010-09-20) The region's agronomist says now is the time for producers to be planting forage crops.

Holt County extension agronomist Wayne Flannery says our wet weather can actually help new seedlings prepare before going into winter. He says watching things like adequate fertilizer, correct seeding rates and proper seed depth can avoid failures come spring. He also urges producers to watch for pests like grasshoppers, who like to feed on the young seedlings.
