MARYVILLE, MO (2009-09-08) The Flu is becoming more widespread, but has been around since this summer.
That's according to doctor Jerry Wilmes, who is the director of the Wellness Center on the Campus of Northwest Missouri State in Maryville. He says before the Labor Day Holiday his office was saw about 50 students in one week complaining of Flu like symptoms. Those include fever, cough, sore throat, and body aches. Doctor Wilmes says he's working with the Health Department and Hospitals in Maryville to monitor the Flu, but suggests all three want you to go to the phone before going to the doctor. Wilmes says that will avoid exposing others in the Waiting Room. He also says for the otherwise healthy person, the early Flu going around now is typically no more aggressive or deadly than normal Flu strains.
