Trooper Bridge Dedication

McKenna

HOLT COUNTY, MO  (2012-10-03)

A Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper who lost his life while working flood control in Holt County last year will be honored this Friday.

The Trooper Fred-F-Guthrie, Junior Memorial Highway will be dedicated during a special ceremony at 11 o'clock at the Platte County Resource Center. The memorial highway is a portion of Interstate 29 between Missouri Highway 273 near Tracy, Missouri and Missouri Route E near Camden Point. Guthrie was assigned to Missouri River flood duty August 1st of last year and was working in an area near Big Lake in Holt County when he was swept away by swift moving flood waters. Sergeant Collin Stosberg says Guthrie's death is a reminder of the dangers that face law enforcement officials on a daily basis.

Stossberg says Guthrie was the 30th member of the Missouri Highway Patrol to lose his life in the line of duty.
