Thomson on 3

Swetnam

MARYVILLE, MO (2012-10-04)

Missouri voters will address a proposal that would change the nominating commission for appellate court judges.

Amendment 3 on this November's ballot, would allow the governor 4 appointees to the commission rather than the current 3. Doug Thomson is a practicing attorney in Maryville and is on the Missouri Bar Board of Governors. Thomson says allowing the governor to appoint 4 of the 7 commission members is too much political power.

Supporters of Amendment 3 say it would allow Missouri citizens to hold the Governor accountable for those he appoints to to the committee.
