MARYVILLE, MO (2012-10-18)
The Maryville Board of Education approved a plan to possibly reduce staff with their ACES alternative school program.
The Area Cooperative Educational Support program originally started in the fall of 2005 as a cooperative among 21 school districts in northwest Missouri funded through grant money that is no longer available. The Maryville School District served as the lead school for the program. With the co-op dissolving due to lack of funds, Maryville School District officials have decided to continue to run the alternative school locally beginning with the 2013-14 school year. Superintendent Larry Linthacum says the change will mean a reduction in staff needed for the program.
